PLOT columns

PLOT columns are ideal for separating compounds that are gases at room temperatures. Agilent Technologies offers a comprehensive line of PLOT columns for analysis of fixed gases, low molecular weight hydrocarbon isomers, volatile polar compounds and reactive analytes such as sulfur gases, amines and hydrides. Our PLOT phases are offered in dimensions from 0.25 to 0.53 mm id, allowing for easy column selection for various detector and system requirements. For GC/MS systems, we offer several small diameter columns with truly bonded and immobilized stationary phases, eliminating potential detector fouling due to particle generation.

Highlight of the Product Offering

HP-PLOT Molesieve

Agilent offers two series of molecular sieve PLOT columns in 0.53- and 0.32-mm id. For applications requiring resolution of argon and oxygen without expensive cryogenic cooling, select thick-film HP-PLOT Molesieve/5A columns. The thin-film configurations are ideal for many applications, including routine air monitoring and analysis in less than 10 seconds. The thin-film column resolves argon and oxygen at subambient temperatures.

HP-PLOT AL2O3 S

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT Al2O3 S is a ‘mid-polar’ alumina phase, deactivated with sodium sulfate. It is the standard column choice for light hydrocarbon analysis, particularly C1 to C8 hydrocarbon isomers, and is excellent for resolving acetylene from butylene and isobutane.

GS-Alumina

Agilent J&W GS-Alumina is the most polar alumina phase. The phase consists of aluminum oxide with proprietary deactivation. GC-Alumina is an excellent general use column for light hydrocarbon analysis, with C1 to C8 hydrocarbon isomers. Alumina columns have a tendency to adsorb water and CO2 which, over time, result in changes in retention time. Agilent uses an advanced, proprietary deactivation process that allows for rapid regeneration, and so fully moisture saturated GS-Alumina columns regenerate completely within 7 hours or less at 200

HP-PLOT Q

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT Q is a bonded polystyrene-divinylbenzene (DVB) column specially developed for the separation of targeted nonpolar and polar compounds, including hydrocarbons (natural gas, refinery gas, ethylene, propylene, all C1-C3 isomers); CO2, methane, air/CO, and water; polar solvents (methanol, acetone, methylene chloride, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, esters); and sulfur compounds (H2S, mercaptans, COS).

HP-PLOT U

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT U consists of bonded, divinylbenzene/ethylene glycol dimethacrylate coated onto a fused silica capillary. HP-PLOT U is suitable for analyzing hydrocarbons (natural gas, refinery gas, C1-C7, all C1-C3 isomers except propylene and propane), CO2, methane, air/CO, water, and polar compounds. In comparison to HP-PLOT Q, HP-PLOT U demonstrates greater polarity (RI ethyl acetate 630 vs. 576) and, therefore, different selectivity, better peak shape for some polar compounds such as water, and a much lower maximum operating temperature

GS-GasPro

Agilent J&W GS-GasPro features unique bonded PLOT column technology. With an operating temperature range of -80 to 260/300 °C and extensive testing to strict industry QC standards, GS-GasPro delivers the level of performance demanded by analytical GC/MS. The precision-engineered column is an excellent choice for light hydrocarbons and sulfur gases, and can separate CO and CO2 on a single column. GS-GasPro also features high levels of retention stability that is not affected by water.

GS-CarbonPLOT

Agilent J&W GS-CarbonPLOT uses a high stability, carbon-layer stationary phase to deliver unique selectivity for inorganic and organic gases. The column features an extended temperature limit to 360 °C. The retention stability of GS-CarbonPLOT is not affected by water, and the column is ideal for GC/MS because its bleed-free phase does not shed particles
